Family Update

Dear Families:

October brings many learning opportunities through field trips, guest speakers, special events, and Parent Teacher Conferences. Teachers have shared dates and times for in person or Zoom appointments. If you have not signed up or have not seen the communication please reach out to the homeroom teacher.

Please make note that the Fall 3rd Grade Ohio State English-Language Arts test will take place on Tuesday, October 14th and Wednesday, October 15th. We ask that you avoid making appointments or planned absences on these days.

This month's September News from the Foundation celebrated the newest class of inductees to the Athletic Hall of Fame. Also included is a Save the Date for "A Spirited Evening for the Foundation."

We are looking forward to another great week in our classrooms!

Thanks for your partnership!

Bexley Athletic Events Guidelines

Lions are Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and Kind

Just like the school day, we have expectations for our students during school events.

You may see the full list of guidelines online. Procedures include, but are not limited to the following:

  • An adult must accompany elementary students or younger children to gain entrance into an athletic contest, and the adult must supervise the students they take to an athletic event.
  • All district playgrounds close at dark. This includes the Cassingham playground and softball field.
  • For events at outdoor and indoor venues: Facial coverings, such as ski masks, scarves, and bandanas covering the face, must be removed at admittance but are permitted inside all athletic venues. Religious facial coverings such as the burqa and niqab are exempt from this rule.
  • Protective facial coverings, such as masks designed to contain droplets and particles you breathe, cough, or sneeze, must be removed at admittance but are permitted inside all athletic venues.
  • Backpacks or bags will only be permitted if the bag’s contents are required for a designated purpose (i.e., medical equipment bags, diaper bags, camera bags). In such instances bags will be searched before being allowed into the venue.
  • Small purses no larger than 5”x8”x1” will be permitted. Purses larger than this size will not be allowed.

Students, parents/guardians, and fans are encouraged to allow extra time to enter an athletic venue prior to the event’s start.

Counselor Updates

Starting mid-October, the elementary School Counselors will deliver the Safe and Supported Lessons to each of our K-5 students. Through this unit, students learn how to identify trusted adults, set healthy personal boundaries, recognize red flags in friendships, support friends in crisis, and care for their own well-being through an age-appropriate curriculum.

These lessons may be sensitive, but they are essential, in addition to being a state requirement. Please visit this link for more information. Ohio Department of Education and Workforce website.

If you have any questions or would like to preview the material (in person) please contact your school counselor.

If you do not want your child to participate in the lessons, please send written communication to your school counselor by October 8.
